The 2020 Theme: One World Out of Many, We are One
The Young Artists and Authors Showcase (YAAS) encourages youth from around the globe to express the mission of Sister Cities International through original artwork, literature, film, and photography. Students from national and international sister city member communities interpret an annual theme and send their work to Washington, DC where a panel of judges selects Grand Prize Winners and Finalists based on originality, composition, and theme interpretation. After the finalists for art, literature, film, and photography are announced, the works go on a yearlong tour hosted by local sister city programs on a monthly basis, and the grand prize winners receive $1000 each.
Rules and Requirements
Each participant is allowed to submit only one entry. Entries must be sent with a completed official entry form. 2020-Young-Artist-Entry-Form-and-Guidelines ; 2020-Young-Authors-Guidelines-and-Entry-Form ; 2020-Photography-Entry-Form-and-Guidelines . Entries may be submitted earlier but no later than Monday, January 10th, 3:00pm to the NSCA Office, 800 E. City Hall Avenue, Norfolk.
• Winners and finalists will be announced in June.
• All art, photography, and writing entries will be published to Sister Cities
International’s Tumblr (https://www.tumblr.com/blog/sistercitiesinternational).
• All winners and finalists will go on a tour to select sister cities.
• There is NO FEE for art, writing, or photography entries. There is a $25 fee for film
entries.
• There is a $25 return fee per art piece for the Young Artists Showcase if the
program/artist wants the art returned.
