Norfolk Sister City Association

The Norfolk Sister City Association invites you to an Indian luncheon and a lecture/demonstration on the traditional South Indian art form of Kathakali dance-drama. The event will be held on Wednesday, June 12, 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at Nawab Indian Restaurant, 888 N. Military Hwy., Norfolk.

The Kathakali presentation will be given by Mrs. Sasikala Devidas. Mrs. Sasikala is an internationally–experienced classical dancer from our sister city, Kochi, India, who specializes in Kathakali. Kathakali synthesizes instrumental music, vocal performance, choreography and intricate hand and facial gestures to express ideas and emotions and convey a story. Kathakali is known for the elaborate make-up, costumes and facemasks worn by the actor-dancers.

The event is co-sponsored by the Asian Indians of Hampton Roads (AIHR)
