Join Norfolk Sister City Association’s Tema, Ghana committee for our 2026 Experience Ghana! event on Saturday, May 9, 12-4 p.m., at Mount Lebanon Baptist Church, 1141 Campostella Rd, Norfolk, VA 23523. This free celebration of Ghanaian culture is geared towards children in kindergarten through 8th grade and above, and the community at large. Children must be accompanied by adults.

We will immerse ourselves in the culture of Ghana during this family-friendly, fun event featuring drumming by local artist Baba Silkie, Ghanian dance, display of original Ghanian artifacts, a food tasting prepared by Abena Aforo of Yendidi Restaurant, Ghanian storytelling and arts and crafts. Guests are encouraged to wear their Ghanian fashion.
Also, we are awaiting news of the anticipated participation of the Honorable Ebi Bright, Mayor of Tema, Ghana, and her delegation.
Prizes! Those who attend all of the workshops and presentations will be eligible for raffled gift cards donated by community supporters. The raffle will take place prior to the event’s conclusion.
