Jordan Newby Anchor Library Norfolk Sister City Association's Young Artists & Authors Showcase (YAAS) free reception and awards ceremony will be on Thursday, February 6, 6-7:30 p.m.
Our Young Artists & Authors Showcase (YAAS), featuring art from Norfolk Public Schools students, will be on display January 16-February 7 at the Jordan-Newby Anchor Branch library at 1425 Norchester Avenue in Norfolk. YAAS is an annual worldwide contest that encourages youth, ages 12-18, to express the mission of Sister Cities International through original artwork, literature, photography, and music. The winners of our showcase advance to the international competition at Sister Cities International in Washington, D.C.
2025 Theme: This year’s theme is Friendship: The Heartbeat of Global Peace. It highlights the power of friendship to foster understanding, collaboration, and peace across borders. By participating in this inspiring competition, young creators will have the opportunity to share their vision of a peaceful world and contribute to the international dialogue about the importance of building friendships across nations.
